A New Pathway into Trade Law

The WITA Academy launched this Pathways to Opportunity program to introduce law students and undergraduates to careers in international trade and law. Sessions cover both public and private sector pathways, featuring professionals from law firms, government, trade associations, and more. All programs are free to attend.

Careers in International Trade & Law Series – Spring Session at University of Georgia School of Law

Held in-person and virtually on April 10, 2024, at Georgetown University Law Center, this free event marked the inaugural session of the WITA Academy’s Careers in International Trade & Law Series, curated for J.D., pre-law, and LL.M. students. The program featured separate panels on public and private sector career opportunities in international trade law, followed by a networking social with food and drinks provided.

Speakers included professionals from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Hogan Lovells, Pfizer, and UPS, moderated by partners from Kyle House Group and Mayer Brown with extensive backgrounds in U.S. trade policy. The event was co-hosted with Georgetown Law’s Center on Inclusive Trade and Development and was also live streamed for students outside the DC area.

Careers in International Trade & Law Series – Fall Session at Howard School of Law

Held in-person on September 16, 2024, at Howard University School of Law, this free event was curated for J.D., pre-law, and LL.M. students and was also live streamed for students at universities outside the DC area. The session featured separate panels on public and private sector career opportunities in international trade law, with lunch provided and a networking social to follow.

Speakers included professionals from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the House Committee on Ways and Means, Wiley Rein LLP, and Amazon Web Services, moderated by the Senior Vice President of Global Public Affairs at UPS. The event was free and open to all students.
