The WITA Academy held a special Intensive Trade Seminar unpacking the recent U.S. tariff actions and the global responses. This half-day, off-the-record program explored the legal framework behind the new tariff measures, the case for trade reciprocity, and how U.S. trading partners are responding.

2024 WITA Academy Virtual Intensive Trade Seminar
The 2024 WITA Academy Virtual Intensive Trade Seminar co-hosted by George Washington University was held virtually on Zoom over three days, September 27, 30, and October 1, 2024. Over three days, speakers helped attendees increase their professional knowledge by learning the nuts and bolts of trade policy directly from career trade policy professionals from across government, industry, and law. Each part highlighted a different aspect of U.S. and international trade law and policy. China Virtual Intensive Trade Seminar
WITA went deep on US-China trade with seven Zoom sessions over two days, May 9 and May 10, 2024. The two-day China Intensive Trade Seminar (ITS) was designed to provide an understanding of some of the critical issues impacting U.S. – China trade relations. Intensive Trade Seminar: World Trade Organization
On Tuesday and Wednesday, January 16-17, 2024, the WITA Academy hosted nine sessions covering the World Trade Organization. The two-day Intensive Trade Seminar started with welcoming remarks by the World Trade Organization’s Director-General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Click the video here to watch the remarks.

International Intensive Trade Seminar: Africa Leaders Summit and AGOA Ministerial
the WITA Academy hosted a free online version of our ITS as capacity building for African embassies and ministries to better understand the roles and responsibilities of the U.S. Government and Congress in trade policy making in advance of the Africa Leaders Summit and AGOA Ministerial.

SpeakersWhile the program’s overall structure and themes remain consistent from year to year, the specific roster of speakers and the substantive focus of each session are refreshed annually to reflect current developments, whether shifting tariff actions, newly launched negotiations, or evolving enforcement priorities.
