Thanks to all of you, WITA continues to see extraordinary growth. Today, we have over 5,000 members, and viewers of our webinars in 2023 came from 58 different countries! During 2023, WITA hosted 31 events featuring 80 panels with 200 speakers and over 4,000 attendees online and in-person.
This past year also saw the roll-out and rapid expansion of the WITA Academy, potentially the most significant and impactful initiative in WITA’s history. In just the first year of the WITA Academy, over 300 students from 27 colleges and universities participated in programs to learn about trade policy and opportunities for careers in international trade. We also introduced new capacity building initiatives on EU governance and Artificial Intelligence and Trade.
With the support of the WITA membership and our WITA Academy sponsors, UPS, the Cristena Bach Yeutter Charitable Trust and the American Apparel & Footwear Association, in 2024 we hope to bring the work of the WITA Academy to a wider audience, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, Tribal Colleges and Universities, and other under-represented communities. We’re also looking to expand the work of the Academy to pre-law and law students who may want to consider careers in international trade.
We hope you’ll join us in kicking off a new year of trade policy at our sixth annual Washington International Trade Conference on February 12 & February 13, 2024. We’ll be joined there by an all-star lineup of speakers discussing the direction of trade in the year to come. The entire event will stream online, with in-person discussions available for members and guests in Washington, DC.
