Monument is a nationally recognized consulting firm, focused on strategic communications, public affairs and government relations. We maintain groundbreaking practices in numerous fields, including technology and innovation; tax, trade and economic policy; travel and immigration; defense and cyber security; health care; food, agriculture, energy and the environment.

Monument Advocacy is seeking candidates for a Manager, Government Relations position based in the firm’s Washington, DC office. This position will support the growing Monument team in a variety of assignments and with a focus on our agriculture and food practice.

This is an entry-level position and the salary will be reflected as such.

Candidates should meet the following qualifications, at a minimum:

1. Recent college graduate in a field of study relevant to agriculture or
conservation;

2. Recent Hill Staff Assistant or Legislative Correspondent;

3. Excellent writing, organizational and communications skills;

4. Proven Mac and PC computer skills, be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (i.e., O365, Teams, PPT, Word, Outlook etc.);

5. Exceptional project management and time management skills (i.e., you don’t need to be micromanaged);

6. Experience managing stakeholder and third-party relationships;

7. Ability to juggle multiple fast-paced requests from clients and practice area
leads in Monument;

8. Strong attention to detail;

9. Superb discretion; and

10. A sense of humor.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Providing administrative support such as scheduling for practice area teams, calendaring Congressional hearings and votes;

2. Attending and analyzing Congressional hearings, monitoring proceedings on the Senate and House floors, and attending public policy events;

3. Legislative and policy research and writing;

4. Assisting with client fly-ins, scheduling, and transportation;

5. Preparing teams for weekly status and strategy meetings;

6. Tracking assignments and outcomes for clients, and ensuring requested information is submitted to clients;

7. Serving as a liaison as needed between firm and clients to ensure a timely performance of deliverables;

8. Editing first drafts of LDA (LD-1 and LD-2) reports;

9. Monitoring major news sources (Bloomberg, Politico, NJ, CQ, Washington Post, The Hill) for stories, opinion pieces, etc. to send to clients if clients have indicated they desire these updates; and

10. Closely monitoring policy developments that are relevant to clients.
