Should trade policy address legitimate social, humanitarian and environmental goals, and can it be done in a way that stays true to the non-discrimination principles of the original GATT Agreement? Can these objectives be achieved in a way that is consistent with the GATT Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, that they are not “more trade-restrictive than necessary to fulfill the legitimate objective[s]?”

Please join WITA as we discuss if a “less trade-restrictive” values-based trade policy can be achieved within a rules-based international trading system.
