YTP: Future Directions in U.S. Foreign Policy: Free v. Fair Trade?
Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM (EST)
German-American Heritage Museum of the USA
719 6th Street Northwest Washington, DC 20001
YTP is pleased to partner with the Young Professionals in International Affairs (YPIA) for this exciting event analyzing the impact of international trade agreements from a U.S. policy perspective.
The 2016 Presidential Primary has shed light on the criticisms of free trade agreements on both the left and right sides of the political spectrum. The candidates have taken varying positions on how to best mitigate such issues in trade, ranging from countermeasures to curb practices like currency manipulation and dumping, to renegotiating trade agreements or even tearing them up entirely.
In our discussion, we will evaluate the causes of trade displacements and analyze what policy responses may be appropriate. Our panel of experts will provide their insight on this important and timely issue. We intend for the audience to leave this discussion with a solid foundation of knowledge regarding the international system of trade, current concerns, and the best means of addressing them.
Please join us on April 28th for this enlightening discussion on international trade. A reception with drinks and light snacks will follow the discussion.
