SIA seeks to hire a Director of Global Policy responsible for the association’s economic security-related policy work, including export controls, sanctions, foreign investment regulations, among others. The ideal candidate will have an education and prior work experience relevant to these issues, in particular export control policy. The position reports directly to the SIA Vice President of Global Policy and will work directly with other SIA team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead SIA’s economic security policy agenda, working with SIA member companies to develop and implement strategies to advance the semiconductor industry’s policy priorities relating to export controls, foreign investment, sanctions, and related matters;
- Coordinate with and build effective relationships with SIA Member companies;
- Build and maintain relationships with U.S. government officials (Executive Branch and Congress), foreign government officials, and global industry counterparts; advocate for economic security policies that are clear, coherent, and consistent with an open, rules-based global economy;
- Lead regular Committee meetings with SIA Member companies;
- Monitor, analyze, and communicate relevant policy, regulatory, and legislative developments and their projected impact to SIA member companies on a regular basis; and
- Manage/coordinate special projects and research and analytics work, including white papers, policy-position papers, and external studies related to the policy portfolio.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree (B.A.), Masters degree preferred but not required;
- 7-10 years of professional experience in technology policy, economic/national security policy, export controls, and/or foreign investment policy.
- Demonstrated record of achieving favorable policy, legislative, or regulatory outcomes.
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate on teams in international, diverse, and cross-cultural environments;
- Network of economic and national security policy contacts;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
- Interest in the technology industry, especially semiconductors.
TRAVEL:
- This position is located in Washington D.C.
- Frequent international and domestic travel required.
