Israel-Korea Free Trade Agreement to Stress Tech Cooperation

The soon to be signed agreement was delayed because of Korean political concerns that have been removed by Israel-UAE normalization.

The soon to be officially signed free trade agreement between Israel and South Korea will include a special section about technological cooperation between the two countries, which does not appear in free trade agreements between Israel and other countries.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs deputy director general Asia-Pacific Gilad Cohen has told the Korea media that the two countries wil allocate a special budget for co-financing an R&D fund.

In the wake of Israel’s normalization with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), there are also plans for trilateral Israel-South Korea-UAE cooperation in technology, biotechnology and agriculture.
