Number of complaints across the EU has risen by one-third in past decade
Brexit threatens to disrupt the system designed to crack down on faulty and dangerous consumer goods, a UK campaign group has warned as it revealed that the number of complaints across the EU had risen by one-third in the past decade.
Which? said there were 2,064 warnings in 2018 to the EU-wide Safety Gate alert system about non-food products that posed a threat to consumers, up from 1,542 in 2008.
The group said consumer enforcement systems were “ill equipped” to handle such a volume of unsafe products.
