US wants ‘cutting edge’ trade deal with Britain straight after Brexit

The United States has vowed to open negotiations with Britain over an ambitious trade deal “as soon as it is ready” after leaving the European Union. President Trump’s chief trade negotiator set out plans for a “cutting-edge” free trade agreement with the UK in a letter to congress. Confirmation of Mr Trump’s interest is welcome news in Whitehall as a transatlantic deal with America is deemed a key target for Britain after Brexit. Read more here.
