YTP: The U.S-China Relationship and the Future of the Asia-Pacific

Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM (EST)
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP 1333 New Hampshire Avenue Northwest Washington, DC 20036
Please join us for an off the record discussion on “The China-US Relationship and the Future of the Asia-Pacific” featuring Erin Ennis, Senior Vice President of the U.S.-China Business Council, Bonnie Glaser, Senior Adviser for Asia at CSIS and Director of the China Power Project, and Audrey Winter, Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for China Affairs at USTR. Partnering with the Young Professionals in International Affairs (YPIA) and the Association of Women in International Trade (WIIT), Young Trade Professionals is proud to host this event on the evolving economic and security relationship between China, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific region. We will follow this discussion with a Q&A session and open floor discussion. The Asia-Pacific region is home to nearly 60 percent of the world’s population, contains five of the top thirteen fastest growing economies, and has almost two hundred and fifty UN World Heritage Sites. It is at the heart of global political, social, and economic development and holds tremendous promise and opportunity. At the same time, the potential for conflict in East Asia is also significant. North Korea, the South China Sea, and the U.S.-China trading relationship are three of the many potential geopolitical flashpoints in the region. In this time of high-risk and high-reward, the U.S-China relationship will be critical to determining growth and political stability in the region. This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about these dynamic issues while networking with other young professionals. Food and beverages will be provided. We hope you will join us!
